Rooms are interactive sub-communities that are used to bring together members of the Lippincott Author Community with shared interests, such as those interested in a specific topic or those belonging to the same niche group.

They contain content relevant to the members in question and -more importantly- are home to conversations with like-minded others. Anyone can access rooms and take part in conversations. Simply click on the room you’re interested in to view the content and click into the 'Discussions' tab to see what’s going on. 

So, what are our different rooms?

• Member introductions: A room designed for you to introduce yourself to the Lippincott Author Community so all members can get to know one another.
• Author Services: From language-editing to infographics, the number of services available to authors is constantly growing. Feel free to ask questions about available solutions and products under development.
• Early Career Researchers: A forum for early career researchers to share their experiences in seeking that first publication.
• Ethics and Publishing: here you will be able to browse information and have conversations helping authors to navigate the complicated issues surrounding publication ethics.
• Open Access: A room to encourage discussion of the issues surrounding open access publishing; from Funding mandates and article processing charges to Creative Commons licenses and everything in between.
• Content Metrics: content metrics can be a daunting area. This room will host resources and discussions around journal, article and author metrics.
• Publication Showcase: a room created so you can share your recent publication with the rest of the community!
• Community Support: do you have any questions or suggestions about our community? Head over to Community Support, where you can ask away!

International Connections:

• Indian Author Connections: Discussion group focusing on the unique challenges facing Chinese authors.
• Chinese Author Connections: Discussion group addressing the specific needs of Indian authors.

How can I interact in a room?

Create content

To post in a room, simply create a post/document like you normally would by entering the desired room from the navigation side bar on the left-hand side of the homepage, under the subheading 'Rooms'.

Watch the room

You can click 'Watch' on the channels and rooms that you are most interested in and be notified by email about new content and conversations at a frequency of your choosing.

If you no longer want to follow updates on a channel, simply click ‘Watching’ to stop watching. 

Alternatively, you can decide which channels and rooms to be notified via email, under 'Account Settings' within 'Tailor Digest'

Notably, if no content is added to the channels and rooms that members are watching, there will be no emails sent. 

Start a discussion

Discussions are conversation threads that any member can start about a relevant topic in order to share news or updates, contribute with their thoughts or opinions, ask questions or instigate a specific dialogue.

You can start a discussion within a room by entering your desired room, clicking 'Discussions'

then 'Start a discussion'

You can also see everyone else's discussions, as well as reply and like their comments.
