To start writing a post, you can click “Create” in the top right corner of the navigation bar and then choose “Create a Post”
You will be taken to 'My posts' where You will be taken to the “My Posts” page where you can see all the posts you have already created and their progress status. You’ll also see a little green dot on each piece of published content and an orange dot for posts in draft.
Click on the green “+ New Post” to be taken to the authoring page where you can create your post. Here, you will be able to edit the title, the introduction (300 characters max.), and the main body of your post.
Although posts are mainly aimed at text-based publications, you are still able to embed videos (from Youtube or Vimeo), insert images and tables.
On the right of the page you will find the different setting options for your post:
- Poster image: here you can upload a high-resolution image that will appear at the top of your post. We strongly recommend that you upload a poster image as it will make your post appear much more attractive and interesting! You can find free stock photos & royalty-free images on websites such as pexels.com or unsplash.com.
- Badges: these are text labels added to content to help people find relevant content more easily by grouping related publications together.
- Channels: here you can select the channel in which you would like your post to appear.
- Room: if you would like your content to be accessible to all, select ‘No Room’. If you would like the post in a specific room, select your desired destination.
- NB: you can also create a post directly within a room by clicking on the green "Create" button at the bottom right of the room's hero image.
- SEO: this stands for Search Engine Optimisation and here you can edit how your post appears in search results.
- The SEO title allows you to change the title that appears in the tab at the top of your browser. You might do this if you have an abstract title and want the SEO title to more accurately describe the content of the article. This title tag is also tracked by Google so try to add keywords that will make your content more searchable.
- The SEO description is the little bit of text that you see in the search results when you use a search engine - it should concisely and accurately describe your post to make it easier for others to find.
- If you are posting something from another website, make sure to post that URL in the Canonical URL field, which will also make your post more searchable.
After you have finished perfecting your post, you can publish it immediately by clicking ‘Publish Now’ or schedule it by pressing the ‘Schedule’ button. You can also preview what your post will look like once it is published by clicking ‘Preview’.
